I work as a patent attorney at Genip Oy, mainly at our home office in Porvoo, but also at our Kotka office. I am qualified to represent clients at the European Patent Office (EPO), the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). I have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering (TKK 1996).<\/p>\n

My career began at Metso Paper Oy as a product development engineer, where one of my tasks was to invent new products and product improvements. From there, my path continued to become a patent liaison in R&D, patent engineer, and further to the role of an IP manager. In 2004, I switched to Berggren Oy, where I worked for more than 10 years in various patent-related positions. In 2015, I switched to UPM Kymmene, where I took care of patent matters in pulp business area and in the Biomedicals. In 2019, I joined Genip Oy and nowadays I take care of the duties of the managing director in addition to customer assignments.<\/p>\n

My technical background and experience covers especially mechanical engineering for machinery and equipment, process technology especially in the forest industry, as well as vehicle, marine and other means of transport technology, building and structural engineering, weapons technology, energy technology (including renewable energy and storage), manufacturing methods and product handling.<\/p>\n

My special interests are combining business strategy and IP strategy \u2013 I see building a strong patent portfolio as a business-oriented entity that supports the client’s long-term success. Everything related to patenting must support the company’s business, this is a common thread that should always be kept in mind and it is the cornerstone of my service.<\/p>\n
